This 97 square foot kitchen in an East York bungalow got a much needed renovation! There are so many beautifully renovated kitchens out there with statement islands and gorgeous custom range hoods that this client didn't believe that they could have a nice kitchen within their budget and small space.
We ripped out everything and picked out new appliances and updated finishes that worked for the family's lifestyle.
This kitchen had run its course and needed a serious update.... and that valance and ceiling fan had to go!
The kitchen had dated laminate countertops and cabinet doors that were peeling and the pink 12x12 ceramic floor tiles just did not do anything for this space. We planned a great cabinet layout and were so excited to see it replace the old ones.
So much better! We picked out a timeless white bevelled subway tile for the backsplash and a gorgeous grey limestone for the floor.
We opted for frameless cabinets to keep within the budget and chose a decorative shaker style door with some detailed edging and crown moulding to mix in some traditional elements. Including a dedicated area for the microwave is a functional way to free up space on the countertop.
The white cabinets, stainless steel appliances and the modern finishes keep this kitchen from looking too traditional. We also included a practical wood top kitchen island from IKEA to give the family an on-the-go eat in breakfast area as well as some extra storage underneath.
The family opted for an induction cooktop for easy clean up and fast and efficient cooking power. They love to cook so we included two spice racks on either side for all their cooking supplies as well as storage underneath the cooktop to store all pots and pans.
The kitchen is looking so much more functional, bright and welcoming... even in a small space! The clients loved how it turned out and we hope you enjoyed this fun before and after comparison of #ProjectEastYork!
